A male Naxal was gunned down in an encounter with security forces in Pedagelur forest patches, under Basaguda police station limits. Arms, ammunitions and Naxal materials were also recovered from the spot. Two District Reserve Guard troopers were also injured in Exchange of Fire. The injured DRG personnel have been identified as Semla Dhanesh and Ramesh Bhandari.
 
They were given necessary treatment in local hospital. The deceased Naxal is Janmilitia member Soma alias Sona, a resident of Peddagelur, said SP Kamlochan Kashyap. Based on intelligence input about presence of CPI Maoist cadres, a joint team of District Reserve Guard, Special Task Force, Commando Battalion for Resolute Action and Central Reserve Police Force was out for search operations in Kottaguda, Pedagelur, Gundam and Golkonta forest areas.
 
Near Pedagelur forests, security forces came under heavy firing of Naxals who were hiding behind trees. Immediately the forces retaliated and vanished into the forest. When the guns fell silent, security forces searched entire area and recovered body of a Naxal whose identity is yet to be ascertained. Muzzle loaded rifle, pipe bomb, huge quantities of country made weapons, explosive materials and camping materials were also recovered. Two DRG troopers Dhanesh and Bhandari sustained minor injuries in IED blasts triggered by Maoists. Both the injured troopers were taken to the hospital. Additional reinforcement troops were sent to the forest patches. DANTEWADA: NAXAL materials were recovered from Gumori mountain areas in joint action of District Reserve Guard and Special Task Force. Backpacks, medicines and Naxal literatures were included in the materials recovered by security forces.
 
Based on specific inputs about presence of Naxals in Chote Hirma, Gumori, Nahadi and Kakadi areas, a joint team of DRG and STF had left for search operations. While crossing Gumori mountains, the team came under heavy firing of Naxals. Security personnel retaliated in self-defense. Soon, the Naxals escaped. Security personnel searched entire area and recovered tiffin bomb, detonators, codex wires, 10 live cartridges, bow and arrow, 6 uniforms and daily use materials.
