The Revenue Department of the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has expedited the ongoing tax recovery drive and taking strict action against tax payers who are not paying pending dues. Senior officials of all 16 divisions are seizing properties of defaulters against non-payment of tax. The officials are also making high efforts to fill the coffers of the civic body by realising maximum dues. Senior officials, on Thursday sealed a country liquor shop, bar, bakery and packaged water selling shop for non-payment of tax amounting to Rs 1.37,800 by shop owner Kamla Chakravarty.
 
They also seized domestic gas cylinder. Revenue officials informed that they were conducting drive in several wards of the city regularly. The officials realising tax and also serving notice to defaulters for depositing pending dues.
 
They are also seizing properties of big defaulters. Officials informed that if the tax-payers would fail to deposit outstanding tax within stipulated time period, their property would be auctioned. Divisional Officer, Santosh Agrawal informed that after the drive the shop owner deposited outstanding tax hence her shop was unlocked. Meanwhile, Municipal Commissioner, Anoop Kumar Singh has asked senior officials to give impetus to the on-going drive and realise maximum tax. Singh has instructed the Revenue department officials to ensure strict action against big defaulters. He has also requested citizens to pay municipal tax on time.
