Coming down heavily on the Congress party for promising review of liquor prohibition in its election manifesto in Bihar, BJP National Vice-President Dr Raman Singh said that from this assurance, it has become aptly clear that the Congress is a puppet in the hands of liquor mafia.

Dr Singh further alleged that the Congress can stoop down to any level for its lust for power. He said the Congress which had promised complete liquor prohibition in its election manifesto during Assembly elections here in 2018, with Gangajal in hands, have now breached the promise not only by selling liquor at every nook and corner of the state but also promoting sale of illicit liquor. It has also started home-delivery service as well.

In Bihar, the Congress in its election manifesto released on Wednesday, promised to review the decision of complete liquor prohibition, which is in force now.

Asserting that the Congress is just a puppet in the hands of the liquor mafia, Dr Singh alleged that the Congress government’s liquor policy is governed by them.

At a time when there is complete liquor prohibition in Bihar and people particularly women are leading a peaceful life due to it, the Congress has proposed to revisit the liquor prohibition order so that if it comes to power it will lift the same as per the wish of liquor mafia. Accordingly, it is luring people to vote in their favour and that it will give liquor in return, alleged Dr Singh.

Former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said that the Congress which is giving temptation of liquor to the electorate under the garb of review of prohibition in Bihar, why does not it accept that on the basis of such inducement Congress has remained in power for years.

Dr Singh urged Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to garner enough courage to accept how the Congress is playing as a puppet in front of the liquor mafia before the people of Bihar and Chhattisgarh.

Dr Singh asked the Congress whether the promise to review the liquor ban has been made because it has allegedly collected funds for contesting elections in Bihar from liquor mafia. Dr Singh alleged that there is every possibility because here in Chhattisgarh, the government is being run with money earned from liquor.
