Covid-19 deaths in district come down to single digit again

Deaths due to Covid-19 infections in Nagpur district are continuously witnessing decrease which is a good thing, though even a single death should not take place. With doctors too now are speaking positive about coronavirus and admitted the deaths are reducing and it would reduce further. On Friday, in one single day the number of deaths came down to 7 with city and rural both registered a single digit ones. This is third time in last ten days that the district registered single digit deaths in one single day. The new cases too are below 500.
 
With seven deaths on Friday, the cumulative number reached 2,645. The reduction in deaths is the outcome of day and night hard work of frontline healthworkers who are actually doing job in the den of coronavirus.
 
On Friday, 459 persons tested positive for coronavirus on Friday. The new cases reduced drastically in rural to 97 and 362 persons came positive in Nagpur city. With these the cumulative coronavirus positive cases reached 92,491.
 
There is again rise in the number of persons recovered in one single day. In last four days the people recovering were below 500. On Friday, 683 became corona-free taking the cumulative recovery to 84,316. The recovery rate in Nagpur district on Friday too is better than the national average. National average is 89.20% while district’s recovery rate stood at 90.61%. The better recovery paved way for the reduction in active cases. Now the active cases stand at 5,712.
On Friday the number of testing is slightly decreased but not an issue of concern. City’s number witnessed slight decrease while testing in rural Nagpur increased.
 
The number of testing in city is 5,057 while in rural 1,479 samples were examined. The total testing in district registered is 6,536. Of the total testing, 3,691 samples were examined through RT-PCR while 2,845 were through Rapid Antigen Test. The cumulative number reached 5,94,177.
 
Apart from the samples of Nagpur district, the people from Nagpur and out of city approached various laboratories in Nagpur to get themselves examined.
 
The samples came for examination at various laboratories in Nagpur include Virology Laboratory of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) (1,011), Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) (423), Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) (142), National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) (87), Centre for Zoonosis, Nagpur Veterinary College affiliated to Maharashtra Animal Fisheries Sciences University (MAFSU) (116), Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) (178) private laboratories(1,734), Antigen (2,845).
