Sports and Education Departments join hands to share resources for spotting and training young sporting talent in rural areas

THE Sports and Education Departments will now work together for promotion of sports in development blocks with mutual exchange of resources throughout the State. It will be for the first time in the State that a combined team of both the departments will co-ordinate with each other for identification of favourite sport events in development blocks for providing training facilities and other resources to local children.
 
The new scheme envisages to ensure better utilisation of government resources in promotion of sport and providing better facilities to upcoming players in development block level areas. The Education Department will provide its infrastructure of Government schools in every development block while Sports Department will provide coaches and other resources for training of players.
 
District Sports Officer, Santosh Singh Rajput, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’, informed that district-level committee headed by the Superintendent of Police comprising of District Education Officer and District Sports Officer has been constituted under the scheme. The team will identify a Government school in every development block with the availability of sports ground and a room for sports officer. Sports Department will deploy a sports co-ordinator and provide sports equipment for providing training to youngsters. Similarly, four favourite sport events will be selected for their promotion amongst youngsters at every district headquarters. DSO Rajput informed that it is an ambitious scheme for decentralisation of sports promotion campaign and nurturing talented players in remote and rural areas.
