CROP LOSS: Inter-Ministerial team calls on CM Chouhan

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that best arrangements are being made to compensate losses caused to crops of farmers due to excess rainfall in state. After providing instant relief amount to farmers under short-term efforts, guidance related to agricultural work will also be provided to them under long term scheme.
 
He was holding a discussion with Inter-Ministerial team of officials of Government of India. He thanked the team which called on him for touring the districts affected by excess rain and floods and assessing crop damage. He said that excess rainfall in last week of August affected crops adversely. He himself saw damaged crops in many districts and held discussions with farmers.
 
 
Deptt to provide guidance to farmers regarding crop pattern: CM
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that taking into account the damage suffered by crops owing to excess rain and floods, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare will provide continuous guidance to farmers regarding crop pattern. Farmers who depend on only one or two major crops will be motivated to adopt inter-cropping.
 
He told that even in the olden times also, farmers have been reducing the possibility of damage and finding a way to get more benefits by sowing four crops in a year. Today, farmers have come forward to produce maize and paddy instead of soybean alone. Farmers will be benefited by adopting a practical solution for both Rabi and Kharif. Farmers will be offered guidance on the climate of Madhya Pradesh, sowing according to soil and benefitting from horticulture.
He was addressing to inter-ministerial team of centre which assessed the crop damage in State. Joint Secretary incharge of the Inter-Ministerial team Rajveer Singh informed him about the meetings with He urged Inter-Ministerial team members to submit the actual report. He said that in his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi he had given detailed information about damage suffered by crops in Madhya Pradesh. He said that due to COVID-19 crisis, about one-third of the disaster fund had to be utilised, hence, financial assistance for loss of crops is expected from the Government of India.
