Commuters facing problems in absence of inter-city pvt buses

Operators are demanding 50 per cent fare hike on account of increased fuel price and declining number of passengers
 
 
absence of inter-city private buses during festive season is bothering passengers a lot. People who travel to their home town during festivals are facing inconvenience. Bus operators are showing adamant behaviour towards their demands and denied to start operation of vehicle until their demands are approved. Operators are demanding 50 per cent fare hike on account of increased fuel price and declining number of passengers.
 
They have also threatened to go on strike if the Government failed to take decision regarding fare hike. Bus owners said that fare board meeting was conducted about a month back but final decision could not be taken yet. They have demanded to enhance fare in order to overcome the crisis and survival of business.
 
Currently out of 730, only 170 buses are being operated on various routes and these buses too are facing passenger crunch. Gopal Pagwar, member of Private Buses Association said, “It would not be feasible to run vehicles at old fare as fuel price have surged up and number of passengers is very less. We are waiting for final decision of the Government over fare hike and State-level strike will begin on October 15.” There are limited number of private autos and taxis on road and they are charging high and their running area is limited.
