Govt’s major impetus to expand road network

50 lakh contracts will be awarded to the youths for construction works for providing employment
In the last two years works on roads and bridges gathered momentum with the State Government sanctioning 4,050 works worth Rs 13,230 crore. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the State Government is strengthening the road networks, particularly in the rural areas.
 
The Chief Minister has also launched Mukhya Mantri Sugam Sadak Yojana during the current financial year for connecting government buildings, schools, colleges, anganwadi, hospitals, paddy procurement centres, haat bazaars, exhibition grounds, etc with main roads. The State Government with an objective to provide employment to unemployed youths the State Government has implemented an e-category registration scheme. Along with this, action is being taken to implement the Dharsa Development Scheme soon by the Public Works Department. Under which the kuccha streets in the village will be made pucca so that people and cattle can move freely in all seasons including monsoons.
 
It is worth mentioning here that the State Government has sanctioned 4,050 works worth Rs 13,230 crore during financial years 2019-20 and 2020-21, wherein, Rs 2648.36 crore has been sanctioned for 839 works during 2019-20 and Rs 1930.37 crore has been sanctioned for 274 works during 2020-21. Apart from this, Rs 8400 crore has been sanctioned for 768 works under Chhattisgarh Road Development Corporation and Rs 252 crore has been sanctioned for 2169 works under Mukhyamantri Sugam Sadak Yojana.
 
Public Works Development Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu said that the State Government is committed to build quality roads and bridges for congestion free traffic in State. Keeping this in mind, new roads and bridges are being constructed at rapid pace while maintenance, renewal and doubling works are being carried out on all old roads.
In Chhattisgarh, 50 lakh contracts will be awarded to the youths for construction works for providing employment to the local unemployed youth and for proper utilisation of local resources. For this, a new category E has been added after categories ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’ and ‘D’ under the integrated registration system currently implemented by the department.
