“To ensure availability of doctors for patients at dedicated COVID hospital Hamida and other Government hospitals, the duty of both medical and non-medical staffers should be imposed in roster manner,” said Divisional Commissioner Kavindra Kiyawat on Saturday.

The Divisional Commissioner gave the above directions to the superintendents of both Hamidia Hospital and of Gandhi Medical College (GMC) while addressing a review meeting at his office. He said that non-clinical staff would work under the supervision of the senior resident doctor of the core department. No doctor or other staffer will be given a day off from work and it will be made mandatory for everyone to come to work as per the roster. Kiyawat added that sufficient number of staffers and enough resources should be made available at Government hospitals. Be sure to provide appropriate treatment to all the patients.

A mutual introduction and training of paramedical staff including ward-wise doctors should be ensured before imposing their weekly duty. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the government has increased human resources and other facilities at all government hospitals in the past 4 months. The capacity of ICUs, HDUs and oxygen supported beds has increased significantly at all the hospitals. Divisional Commissioner Kiyawat directed all the chiefs to ensure that doctors and other staffers are deployed for the patients’ care and should also provide with food and ambulance facilities on time.
