Only 50 per cent UPSC applicants appear in exam amid pandemic

UPSC preliminary exam was conducted at 59 centres of Bhopal on Sunday. For the first time, only 50 percent candidates appeared for the examination due to prevailing Covid crisis. Total 22,372 candidates had registered for preliminary exam out of which 9,097 candidates had appeared at centres. In the first shift, around 40 per cent students appeared, while in the second shift, 60 per cent students had appeared for the examination. Students were allowed to enter the centres after thermal screening and hand sanitisation.
 
The district administration had tightened security at all centres and social distancing was mandatory inside the examination hall. Candidates were asked to report at the centre one hour prior to go through the search process. Applicants were asked to completely follow safety norms of Covid-19. Social distancing was mandatory at all the examination centres.
 
Students were asked to appear at the centre about one hour before the exam time. E-admit cards was released for applicants. Entry of candidates was closed about 10 minutes before starting of the examination. Identity proof and photo identity was mandatory for all candidates. Face mask and 50 ml hand sanitiser was also must to be carried in the exam hall. Electronic devices were prohibited. Earlier, the exam was to be held on May 31 but later it was postponed in view of Covid-19 pandemic.
