Wildlife Week celebrations continue at Van Vihar Park

Celebrating State-level Wildlife Week-2020, Van Vihar National Park organised nature camp on butterflies on Sunday. Many participants from Youth Hostel, Lake City Unit, vns Group, Camera Club and others participated in the camp.
 
They spotted species of butterflies like Common Tiger, Stripper Tiger, Blue Tiger, Common Gross Yellow, Gray Penasi, Common Indian Crow, etc. Shubranjan Sen, Additional PCCF, Dr Sangeeta Rajgir, Mohammed Khalid and other subject experts were present to guide the participants. There was also interactive session with animal housing keeper and staff where participants raised various queries.
 
They asked about care taking, food habits and routine of bear, tiger, leopard, hyena, snake and other animals. Besides, Dr Rohan Sringarpure In-charge of Vulture Breeding and Conservation Centre, Kerwa informed about vulture species, conservation plans and their importance. In ‘Just a minute’ competition 85 entries were received from junior category and 80 entries from senior category by jury members.
 
On Monday, there will be bird watching and nature camp followed with mehendi competition and palm painting. There will be also State-level poem recitation and wall painting competition. Celebration was started on October 1 with photo exhibition on ‘wildlife in their habitat’ theme. During the programme, safety norms against Covid-19 pandemic were mandatory for all.
