AMRAVATI City women’s wing of the Bhartiya Janata Party protested against increasing incidents of harassment against women in the State during regimes of Mahavikas Aghadi. The protest was staged at Rajkamal Chowk under the leadership of Kiran Paturkar, Amravati City President of BJP. According to protesters, the issue of women’s safety in Maharashtra is a matter of concern during the current regime of Mahavikas Aghadi. In the tough COVID times, women are allegedly harassed and molested even inside Covid Centres and hospital.
 
Women and girls in the State are living in insecurity and are fearful. It is tragic to see women are not even safe in hospitals and that by itself underlines failure of Mahavikas Aghadi. Total seven incidents in which women have been burnt took place at Hinganghat, Sillod, Panvel, Miraroad, Latur, Nagpur and at Lasalgaon in February 2020, the protesters stated.
 
The women also raised slogans and displayed plycards against increasing crime against women and also threatend to intensify their agitation if such incident are not stopped immediately. Gajanan Deshmukh, Mangesh Kolhe, Lata Deshmukh, Women Wing President of BJP from Amravati City, Radha Kuril, Standing Committee Chairman from Amravati City, Surekha Lungare, Sandhya Tikle, Shilpa Pachghare, Rita Mokalkar, Suchita Bire, Chaya Ambadkar, Shraddha Gahlod, Savita Bhagwat, Unnati Shalikram, Kiran Deshpande, Pratibha Tidke, Aparna Sawai and many other women also participated in the protest.
