SPORTSPERSONS of the city are also taking part in social and humanitarian services during these tough times. The initiative of plasma and blood donation camp was taken by a national-level basketball player of the city Shreya Dandekar. Leo Orchid Club, that is led by Shreya as its president, under the aegis of Lions Club of Nagpur Medicos organised the camp in association with Lifeline Blood Bank at the Hanuman Mandir Hall, Shrikrishna Nagar recently.
 
Around 40 blood units and 20 units of plasma were donated during the five-hour camp. The camp was inaugurated at the hands of Mayor Sandeep Joshi. Rajya Sabha MP Vikas Mahatme and East Nagpur MLA Krishna Khopde shared the dais as guests of honour. In his inaugural address, Joshi lauded the efforts of city youngsters who came forward to donate blood and plasma. Joshi also praised the initiative of Shreya for organising the camp and making citizens, specially the youngsters, aware about the importance of plasma and blood donation which is need of the hour during COVID-19 time.
 
On the occasion, MJF Ln Raje Mudhoji Bhonsle (past DG), Dr Prashant Rahate, MD, Seven Star Hospital; Dr Harish Warbhe, MD, Lifeline Blood Bank; Dr Aravind Butle, President, Lions Club of Nagpur Medicos; Dr Viral Shah, Zone Chairperson and Dr Rajesh Sawarbandhe were also present. Sanjay Awachat, President, Soham Foundation and his team also worked hard for success of the day-long camp.
