Congress has claimed that beneficiaries of Sambal Schemes are getting hefty electricity bills in Ambah of Morena district. The party alleged that power distribution companies are doing open loot in the name of fatty bills. It has demanded explanation from State Government in this regard. Addressing a joint press conference here on Wednesday, Media Co-ordinator for Madhya Pradesh Congress President Kamal Nath and Vice President of State Congress Media Cell Bhupendra Gupta furnished several electricity bills of Ambah area and told that consumers are receiving fatty bills.

They alleged that power distribution companies are serving bogus bills to consumers. They demanded the Government to explain how electricity consumption of consumers, which was 130 units during previous Congress government, rose to 2,000 units. Now, consumers are having electricity dues of lakhs of rupees. They also stated that State Government has announced that balance amount will not be added into September bills. This means that old electricity bills are not being waived off but by seeing by-elections, the old bill amount is not shown in new bills.

They also claimed that in several electricity bills, it is written that ‘meter is defective’. “Whose responsibility is to change the defective meter, why they were not replaced,” they fumed. They said that complaint related to electricity bills will be lodged with Electricity Regulatory Commission and Central Regulatory Authority.
