RAIPUR,

RAIPUR Sarafa Association (RSA) has welcomed the decision by Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) has commenced process for making ‘Hallmark’ license and its renewal online from October 7. Prior to the commencement of online process, the sarafa traders had to visit the cities for new as well as renewal of hallmarking license.

Welcoming the announcement, President of RSA Harakh Maloo, Laxminarayan Lahoty, Prahlad Soni and Anil Kucheria said that the sarafa traders across Chhattisgarh including Raipur and its surrounding area had to visit office of Bureau of Indian Standard outside the State for making new license and renewal of the old license. However, with the Government of India’s announcement of permitting the new and renewal of hallmark license online for jewellery, the traders have heaved a sigh of relief.

RSA President Harakh Maloo said that the jewellery traders are overjoyed with the GoI for permitting the online option. He said that the jewellery traders who want to apply for new license will have to visit the link: https://bis.gov.in / index.php/apply-for-a-license/?lang=en. After visiting the link, the applicant can scan the necessary papers and get the license. This initiative will make the process of applying for hallmark license simple and convenient, and all jewellery traders will get the hallmarking license on completing the formalities, Maloo added.
