AFTER a week’s break, Nagpur District Chess Association (NDCA) will be organising online blitz chess competition on Sunday, October 11. This will be the 14th edition of the tournament which started during the lockdown period in the month of May. The competition will be played through the platform of lichess.org. Players of Nagpur district only will be eligible to participate in the competition which carries a total prize money of Rs 3000.
 
The entry fee is be Rs 100 per participant and the last date of entry is October 10 at 11.30 pm. Late entry will be accepted with a late fee of Rs 50 till 3 pm on October 11. User-ID of lichess.org is mandatory for every participant. Siddhant Gawai and Shiva Iyer have won the titles on maximum three occasions while Ansh Dhanvij won it twice. The other winners are Spandan Seth who won the inaugural edition, Priyanshu Patil who clinched the fifth edition, Arush Chitre who claimed the seventh edition, Suhan Deshpande walked away with 11th edition and Mayank Ranade emerging winner in the 13th edition.
 
Only Dhanvij (third edition) and Iyer (13th edition) are the players who have won all the nine rounds once each till now. Arush Chitre, Nilay Kulkarni and Sumedh Ramteke have finished second twice each. Chitre and Ramteke both also won the third spot on two occasions each. The online competition has evoked good response till date and the second edition saw highest number of participants with 59 taking part.
