CHANDRAPUR, The historic Junona Lake located on the outskirts of Chandrapur city is yearning for attention. People visited the lake have turned it into a dumping ground and the place that is supposed to have lush green vegetation and serene waters instead has used bottles and wrappers and decomposing eatables all over the place.

Taking note of this, non-governmental organisation Eco-Pro organisation emphasized on the need to control the crowd visiting the place. The NGO suggested that an entry fee should be charged at Junona village entrance stating that the move may discourage people from crowding the place.

Eco-Pro also demanded intervention of Water Resources Department, Forest Department and Zilla Parishad into the matter to control the unruly crowd and stall further pollution of Junona. Junona Lake was once a place of great scenic beauty where the then king and queen would come for leisure. However that pristine effect has been lost, thanks to pollution in the area.
