Supporters and workers of BJP thronged premises of Commissionerate. Though it was peaceful, the excitement was quite visible in BJP camp.

Before reaching Divisional Commissionerate, Joshi and all the Party leaders reached Samvidhan Square where they garlanded the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. Earlier, he paid visit to the residence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to take his blessings. First time there was quite a good show of strength by the Mahavikas Aaghadi for its candidate Adv Abhijit Wanjari. All the bigwigs of Congress, Nationalist Congress Party and Shiv Sena came together for the filing of nomination papers of Adv Wanjari. Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Balasaheb Thorat, All India Congress Committee (AICC) President and Vidarbha in-charge Ashish Dua, Guardian Minister Dr Nitin Raut, Minister of Animal Husbandry Sunil Kedar, Congress City President Vikas Thakre, District Congress President Rajendra Mulak, President of OBC Cell Dr Babanrao Taywade, Shiv Sena leader, Nitin Kumbhalkar, Praful Gudadhe Patil and Ramtek MP Krupal Tumane, ex-Minister and NCP leader Ramesh Bang, Nana Gawande gathered at GPO square from where the procession went to Divisional Commissioner office.

There was no chaos experienced during both the processions. Both came in equal strength. Sudhir Mungantiwar told mediapersons, Graduates’ Constituency is BJP’s traditional seat and this time too the Party would clinch victory. When BJP contests any election, it fights as a party and this constituency is no exception. Chandrashekhar Bawankule said, “BJP will win this election with better margin. The Party works with full strength and it will do in the same way in this election too. Every single worker of the Party has already on the field.”

Pravin Datke pointed out, “The point that is being promoted by Congress that it declared the candidate quite early doesn’t carry weight. Earlier also Dr Baban Taywade contested the elections, same claims were made by that party. Everybody knows the history. Whatever he has done was directionless and lack of focus. It is BJP’s constituency. We know how to reach people and people too have become habitual of us. We have not only made registrations quite early but also made contact to every single person.” Same kind of claims were made from the camp of Mahavikas Aaghadi too. Balasaheb Thorat expressed confidence over the victory of Adv Abhijit Wanjari. He said, “For the first time in the history of Graduates’ Constituency, all the three parties have come together in support of Congress candidate. This is not mere physical joining but all have vowed to work together with full force. This time we will break BJP’s constituency and make them bite the dust.”

BJP will retain the seat: Sandip Joshi

“Our senior leaders Nitin Gadkari, Devendra Fadnavis have shown faith on the common party worker like me which can happen in BJP only. From a corporator to Mayor whatever responsibilities Party has bestowed upon me I tried to give justice to my work. Graduate constituency is the stronghold of BJP as persons like Bachharaj Vyas, Gangadharrao Fadnavis, Nitin Gadkari, Anil Sole kept unfurling the Party’s flag in this constituency. This time too we will retain the seat. All my leaders Sudhir Mungantiwar, Chandrashekhar Bawankule are with me along with all the party workers. With their support and backing of voters, I shall register a comfortable victory,” asserted Sandip Joshi, BJP candidate for Graduate constituency.

‘We will break the 58 years old tradition’

“We will break the 58-years old tradition of winning the seat by BJP. This time there are several advantages on our side. All three parties-- Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP are together. I have been in university politics since 2002 and have well acquaintance with all the district all over State. I have established the connect with the voters of this constituency.

Secondly, the Government has done re-registration of the voters because of which nobody can be able to do tampering with the voters list. I have reached all the voters twice since the declaration of my name in March. It is afterall upto the voters whom to vote. We can’t force them but we will not leave any stone unturned in appealing them,” pointed out Adv Abhijit Wanjari.
