Despite the job market under stress, Nishad Gotmare, an extraordinary student of first passing batch of Electronics and Telecommunication Department, Government College of Engineering, Nagpur is offered a whopping salary of Rs 44 lakh per annum by the world renowned multinational company, Sony Corporation and invited him to join Sony in the core Electronics sector. Congratulating Nishad, Dr Athawale, Dean of Training and Placement, said, “Nishad's placement has added a feather in the institute’s cap of successful performance. Nishad joined this dream placement offered on November 1, 2020.
 
“He is the youngest of the candidates ever recruited at 22,” says Sony Pvt Ltd Nishad, who founded NISLABZ in his college dormitory during his bachelor’s in 2017 was constantly working on different innovative core electronics design projects and products apart from being a freelancer and designer in electronic music and computer generated imaging. The overwhelmed youngster Nishad expressed his gratitude saying, “At this moment, I am thankful to my Mom and Dad, my family, my professors and my crew.
 
I will forever be in their debt for their continuous support, knowledge and direction they cared to guide me through.” Around 65% of the 2020 batch students, who availed the facility, got placement offers from the companies. The remaining students explored options like higher studied, civil services examination, start-ups, own businesses. Along with Sony Corporation, the major recruiters were TCS, Infosys, Persistent, Cognizant, HCL, Global Logics, Adani, InfoCepts etc. "We feared impact of the pandemic on campus recruitment at the beginning of this session. But it has been good so far and we have a steady stream of recruiter from last few months.
 
The number of companies is recruiting via online mode this year. But now the pandemic situation is improving and we are hopeful of a good placement season for the students, added Dr thawale. "We share a wonderful relationship with industry in various projects where our students participate actively. We have always fulfilled the expectations of our recruiters and hope to give our best in coming years also,” Dr Nitin Ghawghawe, Principal of the college said. He, along with Dr M B Kumthekar, former Principal, Dr P R Deshmukh, Head, Electronics and Telecommunication, Dr Rajeshree Raut, Dean (Students) and entire staff of Government Engineering Nagpur, congratulated Nishad for his proud achievement at a very young age.
