The ‘Bird Week’ celebration of Pench Tiger Reserve got concluded at Amaltas premises at Sillari on Thursday. Forest Department observed ‘Bird Week’ to celebrate the birthday of Maruti Chitampalli and Dr Salim Ali who contributed their life for nature conservation. Different programmes and activities were held throughout the week under the guidance of Amlendu Pathak, Deputy Director, Pench Tiger Reserve.
 
Bird awareness, bird conservation, and recognise the bird and many more workshops were conducted during the event. Forest Department included villagers of nearby villages in these programmes to make them aware about birds. There are around 100 different species that are dwelling in Pench Tiger reserve in which 20 species come every year from other parts of the world. Such species require more care and conservation in the forest.
 
Bharti Dangre, Judge, Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court was the chief guest of the concluding programme. Girish Vashisht, retired DFO presided over the event. Nitin Marathe of Central India Bird Academy, Atul Deokar, RFO and other senior forest officials were present during the event. A library in the name of Maruti Chitampalli was also inaugurated at Amaltas by the chief guest. Mangesh Tate conducted the proceedings and Ankita Telang proposed a vote of thanks.
