Man shot dead near Ashirwad Nagar

Two unidentified assailants shot dead a man at Besa Power House, near Ashirwad Nagar on Wednesday afternoon. The firing incident in the broad daylight has created panic among the citizens. The deceased was identified as Umesh Dhoble (35), a resident of Somalwada. He was admitted at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) where he succumbed to the injuries in the night.
 
A police official said that Dhoble is a vegetable vendor. On Wednesday afternoon, Dhoble and his two accomplices came to the Bank Colony area in Ashirwad Nagar on a motorcycle (MH-31-FL-0255). Meanwhile, Dhoble had an argument with both persons. One of them shot at Dhoble in his head with a pistol. As Dhoble collapsed on the ground in the pool of blood, the accused fled the spot with the firearm. Locals gathered at the spot and alerted police. Additional CP Sunil Fulari, DCP Detection Gajanan Rajmane, DCP Zone IV Akshay Shinde, ACP Dinkar Thosre, Sr PI Satyavan Mane of Sakkardara Police Station and Sr PI Vijay Akot of Beltarodi Police Station arrived at the spot. Profusely bleeding Dhoble was admitted at hospital where he succumbed to the injuries in the night.
 
The victim was identified on the basis of registration number of the two-wheeler. A police official said that a quarrel was broke out between the assailants and Dhoble last month. A non-cognizable offence was registered at Beltarodi police station in this regard. The suspects are being identified on the basis of information given by Dhoble’s brother. DCP Rajmane informed ‘The Hitavada’ that the accused are yet to be identified. “We have interrogated two persons but they were let off after not finding their involvement in the crime,” he said.
