Sandip Joshi, Mayor, appealed to the people to ‘be careful’ and take necessary precautions as ‘COVID-19 crisis’ was ‘not over’ in Nagpur city. For, after Diwali, the number of daily cases and death toll have started rising again, he said. “The number of COVID-19 cases, which was double-digit some days ago, has once again risen to triple-digit. If we do not take due care now, there may be another wave of infections. Hence, stay safe and keep your family members safe,” Joshi said on Saturday.

The Mayor pointed out that the number of COVID-19 patients in Nagpur city had gone up to 1,000 daily till last month. Thanks to due precautions taken by citizens and the work done by the administration, the infection could be contained to a great extent. Prior to Diwali, the number of daily cases had dipped to double-digit. The number of deaths also had come down. “However, around and during Diwali, people crowded the markets. At many places, people flouted the norms. In the joy and excitement of festivity, we should not forget that the COVID-19 crisis is not over.

Now, after Diwali, the number of cases and death toll are increasing again,” Joshi stated. The Mayor appealed to the people to keep in mind that if they do not take proper care in time, they might endanger their family and city. Also, he said, people should use hand-sanitisers, wear face-masks, and follow social distancing norms for next few months to win the battle with COVID-19.
