RAIPUR,

It’s always better to wait and develop the best and appropriate vaccine rather than developing a vaccine in a hurry opined, Health Minister T S Singhdeo during a video conference organised by All India Professional Congress to discuss issues like status of Covid-19 vaccine and matters related to distribution of the vaccine. Health Minister emphasised that vaccine is not the only treatment for corona, but the presence of virus within our surroundings has to be eradicated and made virus free and we are taking all precautions to fight the virus. Regularly washing hands, wearing masks and keeping physical distance is also a way to fight this infectious virus and is similar to a medicine to prevent the virus from getting infected.

Our body’s immunity is sufficient enough to fight the corona, therefore, we should not just sit waiting for the corona vaccine to arrive, but should focus on boosting our immunity.’ While discussing the issue of the corona vaccine, Health Minister Singhdeo said that India is one of the largest producers of drugs in the world. Production of medicine is not as much a matter of concern for the government, as it is to take medicine to every nook and corner of the country.

He stressed that in this era, different companies of the world are engaged in the production of medicines and this has also increased competition in the market of medicines. The trials for the corona vaccine are under way in different parts of the world but one should not forget that no drug has been authenticated on a scientific basis. He further said, before dispensing medicine, we have to patiently determine which drug is best for our countrymen, while on one hand, for some medicine, the temperature of -70 degree centigrade is prescribed. He further stressed that it has to be assumed that the corona vaccine will be available in the market by the end of February and till then the COVID protocol has to be followed, along with which governments would have to determine which category in society will be given the vaccine first.

We need to give priority to the frontline and health workers first, this whole process of vaccination to all the people of the country will take 6 months to 3 years time. The meeting was attended by senior scientific writer Dhananjay Nawander, former MP MV Rajeev Gowda, Shambhavi Nayak and Rahul Singhvi.
