ADGP Establishment Kulwant Sarangal said that the police officers would be accommodated in other police units

After receiving flak for transferring excess number of police officials to ‘some’ police units during general transfers (GT), the Maharashtra Police has started process to accommodate these excess Sub-Inspector (PSI) to Police Inspector (PI) rank officials to other police units. Top rank officials of the State Police discussed the issue and noticed urgency in re-posting of officials, sources claimed. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Establishment, Maharashtra Police, Kulwant Sarangal informed ‘The Hitavada’ that all the excess number of police officials will be accommodated in other police units during the process.

The officials should approach the Establishment Board with a request letter and the board will take the decision, ADGP Sarangal said and added that the one month salary of the excess police officers will be released as arrears after their re-posting. The problem started after much-awaited general transfer orders were issued by the State Police. More number of police officers were transferred to some police units against the sanctioned strength of the Units.

As a result, these excess Police Officers were not given any postings by Unit Commanders and their salaries were also withheld during ‘Diwali’ festival. Sources claimed that the ‘mistake’ in the transfer order has created confusion and depression among the police officers as many of them had worked ‘hard’ to get the choice posting. A top rank official commented that transferring excess number of police officers to an unit can be possible during the GT. However, this time, excess number of officers were transferred to many Police Units. The issue needs to be investigated properly by top rank officials to understand the reason, the official said.
