The dry fruit traders have reason to smile these days as they are witnessing double-digit growth in demand. Fall in prices is fuelling demand for dry fruits in a big way. Apart from this, the awareness to strengthen immunity power of a person is also stimulating demand for the dry fruits. This was revealed by Atul Kotecha, while speaking to The Hitavada. He said that most traders are expecting 25 per cent growth in demand as compared to the previous year.
 
The retail and wholesale shops located at Itwari, Dharampeth, Sadar and other parts of the city are witnessing hectic activity with scores of consumers buying dry fruits for gifting and other purposes. He further said that the demand for dry fruits has shot up from the past 15 days. Corporate buying which was absent for a long time has suddenly come alive.
 
“Traders expect that there will be 25 per cent growth in demand for dry fruits compared to previous years Diwali festive season. Prices of dry fruits have fallen by 20 per cent to 25 per cent as there has been bumper production in major producing countries Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.” The trend of gifting dry fruits has increased manifold as dry fruits can be consumed for upto six months whereas sweets get spoilt within a few days.
