BIS conducts raid on Shreeji Enterprises, finds misuse of BIS mark on PDW

A TEAM of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Nagpur branch on Monday conducted raid at the premises of Shreeji Enterprises, 26, CGHS Layout, near Gajanan Dham, Sahakar Nagar, Nagpur. During the raid, the firm was found engaged in manufacturing of 20 liters PET jars of packaged drinking water (PDW ) without BIS certification mark popularly known as ‘ISI Mark’ on the product and valid license number on the product.
 
The packaged drinking water is under the mandatory certification vide Notification number GSR 760 (E) dated September 29, 2000 issued by Ministry of Health and FamilyWelfare, Department of Health, Government of India and as per section 2(ii) of the notification which reads as “No person shall manufacture, sell or exhibit for sale of packaged drinking water except under the Bureau of Indian Standards certification mark, i.e. no manufacturer can produce packaged drinking water without BIS certification mark, popularly known as ISI Mark under a valid license. Further legal action against as per the provisions of BIS Act 2016 shall be initiated against Shreeji Enterprises.
