Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Supremo Sharad Pawar known for his studied planning and visionary view, has started tapping the leadership talent in NCP’s young brigade. According to sources, Supriya Sule, the Party leader and Member of Lok Sabha got the responsibility of this new initiative. Her presence in two-days workshop of selected youngsters of NCP that was held at Mumbai is an indication of NCP’s plans to prepare the young leadership. These selected youngsters from Maharashtra were asked to attend the workshop. The most important part of the workshop was Supriya Sule remaining present for two days. She kept interacting with youngsters, asking them questions, also let them raise issues.

It was her concept and she did it with full devotion. Sharad Pawar himself visited the workshop venue. He interacted with the youngsters on one to one basis. Except Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule, no NCP leader was involved in the workshop. This is probably for the first time that NCP has conducted such activity. Pawar is known for his industrious disposition and of moving with several activities for the growth of the Party. This activity was one such.

The interaction with ‘Pawarsaheb’ was like a golden opportunity for these youngsters. Pawar and Sule both avoided any talk of Party, or Government in the State in the workshop. In fact, Pawar met each and every individual in the workshop enquired about their family. He asked them not to have small aim of running after the ticket for any election. He was very liberal while interacting. He asked these youngsters to have an aim to become a leader like Yashwantrao Chavan or Atal Behari Vajpayee. He advised them to have bigger aims in life like becoming a leader like Yashwantrao Chavan, Atal Behari Vajpayee etc. Pawar told them to develop qualities of leaders who can lead in any sector. Leader doesn’t mean dictator. He should have qualities like generosity, magnanimity, modesty, honesty.

The leader should be able to take everybody with him or her. The workshop was managed by an organisation Momentum of Gajendra Mendhi of Nashik. Leadershiip development programmes were conducted in those two days. In the workshop, the groups of 10 persons each were made who discussed issues like modesty, simplicity, image building. According to sources the workshop will be a regular monthly feature to be held either at Baramati or Pune. The workshop gradually will discuss parliamentary bills. Though the workshop did not have interaction regarding party politics, there was one session how a ‘Party Spokesperson talks or how one should learn from the mistakes’. Shailendra Tiwari, President of Nagpur District National Congress Party’s (NCP) Youth Wing was among the few selected from Maharashtra, who not only attended the workshop but was adjudged Best Participant in the workshop. He was honoured by Supriya Sule herself.
