Giving clear cut instructions regarding bootlegging and illegal transportation of liquor, Director General of Police (DGP) D M Awasthi on Monday stated that Superintendents of Police (SPs) will be held accountable for illegal selling of liquor in their respective districts and Station House Officers (SHOs) will have to face suspention. In this connection, the police chief has given specific directives to Inspector Generals of Police (IGs) and SPs while reviewing law and order arrangements of the districts through video conference.
 
Addressing the conference, DGP Awasthi directed all the IGs and SPs to launch a campaign against illegal selling and transportation of liquor. Meanwhile, DGP Awasthi instructed the officials to keep hawk eye on bordering districts, including Rajnandgaon, Kawardha and Mungeli to prevent illegal transportation of liquor and informed that based on tip-off, a flying squad from Police Head Quarters (PHQ) will be dispatched directly for the crackdown.
 
DGP Awasthi has directed the officials to inform PHQ about action against bootlegging and illegal transportation of liquor in their respective districts. “All the districts are acting swiftly in cases related to crime against women.
 
Surajpur, Bastar, Raigarh and Bilaspur Police have arrested the accused in cases of crime related to women and put-up the challan in a very short period,” said DGP Awasthi, elaborating that along with ensuring swift submission of challan, gather adequate evidences so that conviction the cases could be ensured. Besides, the police chief has instructed all the SPs that there should be no chance for indiscipline in police department and police personnel with criminal nature. “Chhattisgarh Police will adopt the zero tolerance policy against personnel with criminal nature,” stated DGP Awasthi.
