Waking from its deep slumber, Nagpur Municipal Corporation finally decided to take out the maintenance work at Yashwant Stadium, situated in the heart of the city. After more than a month when ‘The Hitavada’ published the pathetic condition of the stadium, NMC staffers decided to cut the weeds and grass from the ground. Players of Nagpur District Handball Association, after several verbal requests, had decided to clear their playing area.

Dr Sunil Bhotmange, Secretary of NDHA, had to shell out a few thousands rupees for the cleaning purpose. The work of cutting of weeds and grass started a couple of days back but still the ground is not fully playable. “We have started the work of mowing the grass a few days back. A chemical has been sprayed to dry up the weeds and bushes. “The ground is huge and it will take some time to clean it fully,” NMC Sports Officer Piyush Ambulkar told ‘The Hitavada’. “The ground will be clear in a week’s time,” Ambulkar assured.
