WITH an all-win record, the man in form Shiva Iyer helped himself to yet another chess crown. The talented player won the Kusumtai Sahare Nagpur District Open Online Blitz Chess Tournament 2020 organised by Nagpur District Chess Association. In the nine-round event that was played through the platform of lichess.org, Iyer won all his matches making it nine out of nine points.

 

Iyer was followed by Dishank Bajaj with eight points to end runner-up while Priyanshu Patil finished third with seven points. In the ninth and final round, playing with white pieces, Iyer defeated Sumedh Ramteke, who ended with six points to finish sixth. Bajaj, who has also won a blitz tourney recently, was too good for Chetan Deodhgale on the second board. Top 15 players, best veteran and top three girls were awarded cash prizes that were sponsored by Nagesh Sahare. The tournament was conducted under the supervision of IA Pravin Pantawane and FA Umesh Panbude.
