MP’s Faraz Khan bags silver medal in Sr International Equestrian Championship

Madhya Pradesh Equestrian Academy’s Faraz Khan showcased excellent performance in the Senior International One-Star Cross Country Equestrian Championship held in Jaipur, Rajasthan, from December 15 to 17, and bagged silver medal for the country. Player Faraz Khan performed on his horse Hurricane and defeated Jakarta Asian Games 2018 medalists and Army players Ashish Malik and Rakesh Kumar by covering 2.5 kilometres within 4:35 seconds. Army’s Sameer Chaudhary finished at first with a time of 4: 30 seconds while Faraz Khan secured second position with a silver medal. Significantly, 40 international equestrians participated in this competition.
 
Faraz Khan is now eligible for the two-star equestrian championship which is scheduled to be held from January 13 to 15, 2021 in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare, Yashodhara Raje Scindia congratulated
Faraz Khan and Madhya Pradesh Equestrian Academy Chief Coach Captain Bhagirath while expressing contentment over the performance of Faraz. Notably, on the initiative of Sports Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Madhya Pradesh State Equestrian Academy was established in 2007-08. The equestrian academy has international level infrastructure and sports facilities where high level training is being imparted to players. The academy players have so far bagged a total of 134 medals. Director Sports and Youth Welfare Pawan Kumar Jain congratulated Faraz Khan on his achievement and said “The players of Equestrian Academy have brought laurels to Madhya Pradesh by winning medals in equestrian competitions.
