Fit India ‘Cyclothon’ witnesses huge participation

The State capital witnessed stupendous participation in the Cyclothon 2020 organized by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare under the "Fit India" campaign on Sunday. A large number of common people, sports coaches, officers, employees, police and home guard officials participated in the event. Director General of Police Vivek Johri flagged off the Cyclothon at 7:30 am at Lal Parade Ground.
 
The Cyclothon of 15 kilometers commenced from Lal Parade via VIP Kali Mandir, Moti Masajid, Royal Market, Hamidia Hospital, Old Secretariat via Lalghati Square Road, Kamla Park, Polytechnic Square, Banganga Square, Hotel Palash, Rangmahal Square and culminated at Tatya Tope Stadium. Addressing the inaugural programme, DGP Vivek Johri said that fitness is vital for everyone. Expressing contentment over the event, he appreciated the endeavours of Sports Department. Director Sports and Youth Welfare Pawan Kumar Jain said “The covid-19 era has taught us how to improve our health and keep ourselves fit.
 
The world is grappling with the problem of corona and polluted environment, which can be solved through adoption of bicycles.” Additional Chief Secretary ICP Keshri, Commissioner Urban Administration Nikunj Shrivastava, ADG Vijay Kataria, ADG DC Sagar, Commandant Tarun Nayak, CEO Smart City Aditya Singh, DIG Irshad Wali, other officials also participated in cycling. Arjuna Awardee and Olympian Jaspal Rana, Mansher Singh, Rajinder Singh, GL Yadav, members of Green Planet Bicycle Rider Association and Golf Club, SSB were also part of event. On this occasion, a plantation drive was also conducted in the Green Belt area.
