Water sport players win 5 medals in YAI Senior National Sailing C’ship

After a long span, Madhya Pradesh Water Sports Sailing Academy players showcased their brilliant performance in YAI Senior National Sailing Championship-2020 organised by Yachting Association of India in Mumbai and bagged three gold and two silver medals. The medalists on Tuesday met Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare Yashodhara Raje Scindia at Tatya Tope Stadium and shared their laurels.
 
The Sports Minister lauded excellent performance of players, said, “This is the first time since covid-19 when players of Water Sports Sailing Academy have exhibited their talent and made the State proud by winning medals. During the transition period it was our endeavours to maintain the morale of players and stay prepared mentally and physically. Not only the players but also the trainers have been trained by various international trainers, psychologists etc.” Academy’s star player Harshita Tomar bagged gold medal in laser radial event.
 
In 49er Fx event, duo Ekta Yadav and Ritika Dangi bagged gold medal. Shraddha Verma and Morena player Ravindra Sharma bagged gold in 470 Mixed Class event. Similarly, Uma Chauhan and former Academy player Sonu Jatav bagged silver medal in 470 mixed class event. Sheetal Verma and Vanshika Parihar bagged silver in 49er Fx event. Sports Director Pawan Kumar Jain appreciated the performance of players. The players participated in championship under the guidance of Arjun Awardee, Chief Coach GL Yadav and Assistant Coach Anil Sharma.
