An important review meeting to review works related to Agriculture and related departments was held at the Collectorate, on Wednesday. Collector Karamveer Sharma presided over the meeting and reviewed progress of works department and scheme-wise. Additional Collector, Sandeep GR and departmental officials were also present. Collector Sharma emphasised on increasing agriculture production and also to encourage farmers to adopt diversified approach in farming. Pointing towards progress of Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme registration, he sought information related to crop insurance claim settlement.
 
He asked offiials to ensure increasing crop cover area and to ensure redress complaints filed under CM Helpline. In one district, a crop scheme for Jabalpur green peas crop has been selected for Jabalpur. He said, “in order to develop farming as profit making enterprise we need to enhance quality as well as quantity.” He asked officials to prepare work plan to increase crop cover of green peas in the district. Value chain development and value addition steps that could be taken should be added in the development plan so that income of the farmers through farming could be enhanced as desired, he added. Reviewing the schemes under Animal Husbandry Department, he asked officials to ensure timely disbursement of the Kisan credit card to farmers.
 
He also review works related to Horticulture Department and asked officials to make efforts to increase sowing area of the horticultural crops. He also reviewed Fisheries Department progress and asked officials to ensure attainment of target production in coming days and to initiate geo tracking of the ponds in the district.
