The Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) is paying no heed to unauthorised parking and encroachments mushrooming at every left turn on the important squares in the city. Haphazard parking of two and four-wheelers on left turns and illegal temporary structures are proving dear to citizens. A number of vegetable vendors have set up make-shift shops and kiosks at left turns every day. Besides, people also park two and four-wheelers thus encroach the space which is widened to organise traffic arrangements at busy squares.

 

This encroachment adds to traffic jam like situation at squares and poses threat of fatal accidents. Despite knowing the fact, concerned senior officials of the JMC are turning Nelson’s eye to the menace. The officials are taking no step to remove encroachments and provide free space for pedestrians and motorists to move about unhindered. Due to illegal parking and encroachments on left turns, pedestrians have to walk on road.

 

Likewise, motorists have to make long queues during red signal at squares as they have left no sideway to cross the square. Senior officials of anti-encroachment department of the JMC know the fact but they never take pains to ensure fee movement of traffic on main squares. The lethargy of senior officials is proving dear to residents as illegal temporary structures and unauthorized parking on left turns at squares hinder traffic movement and create jam.
