District Collector Dr S Bharathi Dasan on Wednesday instructed to strictly follow the instructions of the government by holding a meeting of the officials concerned, regarding procurement and offtake of paddy by the rice millers. The district collector discussed various issues related to paddy procurement. The Collector enquired about the total acquired paddy in the procurement centers, supply to the millers from the procurement centers and the quantity of remaining paddy, updated status of CMR deposits.
 
He also inquired about monthly milling capacity, milling permission and DO, bank guarantee of millers issued for raising paddy from procurement centers. He said that in case of purchase of more paddy than the buffer limit in the procurement centres, he instructed to lift it f rom the center within the stipulated time. He said that there should be no let-up in offtake by rice millers. Collector said that if the paddy is not lifted in the prescribed 10 days after the issue of DO to Miller, then penalty will be imposed on him. The Collector instructed the officers to conduct committee-wise physical verification at least once a week.
