A 24-year-old woman was raped by a middle-aged person on the pretext of marriage in Bhopal. The survivor, who is a dentist by profession, is married and after a fight with her husband began to hunt to rent a flat. That is when she came in contact with the accused, who then befriended her and on false promise of marriage established physical relations with her.

 

Later, when the victim asked him to marry her, he denied doing so on the grounds of caste. According to police reports, the accused was identified as Gurudayal Sharma, who met the survivor while she was looking to rent a flat in January 2020. The accused posed self as a forest officer and told her that he was a resident of Harda district. He told the woman that he comes to Bhopal often and works only during the day time, so he will need the room for a while. Later, they both rented a flat near Gitanjali square in Bhopal. The survivor told Sharma about her rift with the husband, taking advantage of which, the accused came close to the woman. In February, he established relations with her, promising that he would marry her.

 

Then, whenever he came to Bhopal, he exploited the woman. Around four months ago, the woman went back to live with her husband and simultaneously the accused began to pressurise the woman on living with her. Recently, the survivor came to know that Sharma was already married. Troubled with all of this, she filed an FIR with Kamla Nagar Police Station on Wednesday night. SHO of Kamla Nagar Vijay Sisodiya said that a case was registered under relevant sections of IPC and that the accused would be arrested soon.
