CG Police recover 4,317 missing children under ‘Operation Muskaan’

Bringing cheers to the faces of several families, Chhattisgarh Police have recovered as many as 4,317 missing children under ‘Operation Muskaan’ and handed them over to their respective parents. Recovery of 4,317 is a record, said police sources, elaborating that of recovered children, 3,576 are girls and rest are boys. Police sources further informed that almost all the children recovered under ‘Operation Muskaan’ have been handed over to their respective relatives. In the last two years, as many as 5,227 missing reports were registered across State.
 
“Prompt action in the cases linked with missing children and ensuring their recovery is necessary because there are maximum possibilities that they may become victims of crimes, including beggary, child labour, sexual offences and others. Complying with the Directives of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Operation Muskaan is being run by Chhattisgarh Police for the recovery of missing children,” said Director General of Police (DGP) D M Awasthi.
 
Chhattisgarh Police are working in mission mode for the recovery of missing children, added the police chief.
According to information received, with the recovery of 648 missing children, Raipur is leading other districts in the state in terms of recovery. The State Capital is followed by Durg (378), Bilaspur (373), Raigarh (285), Korba (229), Janjgir-Champa (207), Baloda Bazaar (197), Rajnandgaon (193), Kabirdham (150), Surguja (149), Bastar (147), Mungeli (124), Dhamtari (117), Balrampur and Surajpur (116), Bemetara (114), Jashpur (113), Balod and Koriya (111), Kanker (100) and Mahasamund (97). Similarly, 72 children missing from Gariaband were recovered while Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi (45), Kondagaon (30), Dantewada (27), Bijapur (25), Narayanpur (24) and Sukma (16). Likewise, three children were recovered by Railway Raipur.
