Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel reached Khurmura on Friday and consoled the bereaved family of Late Balaram Sonkar, whose four members were brutally killed by miscreants. He assured that the State Government will be bearing the academic expenses of the four children of the deceased family.
The Chief Minister after consoling the family members announced that Rs 1 lakh each will be fixed deposited in the name of four children to meet their academic expenses. Also an amount of Rs 1 lakh will be given to the family members for the upbringing of these children.
It may be recalled that four members of a family were murdered in village Khurmura under Patan block in Durg district.
This heinous crime has left the complete Sonkar community in a state of shock and there is large scale resentment among them. Gajendra Sonkar said most of the farmers from the Sonkar community carry out agriculture works in their respective area in a lonely atmosphere. Despite four days having passed since the crime has taken place, police have failed to make any break-through into the incident. Extending their cooperation to the police, the Sonkar community has given two more days’ time to the police administration to make a break-through.
Gajendra Sonkar further added that despite Khurmura being the Chief Minister’s home constituency, delay in making break-through into the heinous crime raises eye-brows on the existing law and order situation of the state. He said the Sonkar community has demanded an impartial enquiry into the fiasco by the Central Bureau of Investigation. Very soon the community members will be submitting memorandum to Governor Anusuiya Uikey and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel demanding impartial enquiry. In the meanwhile, it has given two days’ time to the police administration to solve the crime and after two days if there is no progress then the community will carry out silent agitation from Sunday onwards.
Gajendra Sonkar, on behalf of Sonkar community has demanded adequate security for the children of Late Balram Sonkar as they are key eye witnesses to the heinous crime. The Sonkar community members have also demanded adequate compensation to the family members of the deceased from the state government.
