A 22-year-old youth was arrested for abducting a girl at knife point and committing rape in Camp-1, Bhilai on Saturday. The accused was remanded to jail from the court following his arrest. Police sources informed that the accused has been identified as Aman Bharti, a resident of Camp-I, Power House, Bhilai. The police said that in her complaint the victim girl alleged that on Friday evening, she was on way to meet her friend when the accused accosted mid way in Sector-2, Bhilai and abducted her at knife point in his motorcycle.

 

The accused Aman Bharti allegedly took the victim girl to his house in Camp-I, Power House, Bhilai wherein he raped her. The victim girl also alleged that she was threatened of dire consequences by the accused if the matter was ever reported to police. The police have registered the offence against the accused under sections 366, 376 and 506 of Indian Penal Code (IPC). While confirming details, D R Sahu, Investigation Officer, Bhatti Police Station informed that after complaint in the matter in the course of investigation police established criminal charges against the accused Aman Bharti and arrested him for indulging in the criminal acts of abduction, rape and threatening the victim with life.
