ON THE same day last year, a huge cross country race was organised in memory of noted sports organiser LR Malviya. But owing to the prevailing situation this time due to the coronavirus pandemic, the race was reduced to a ‘run for fun’ event. Still the race got a good response from young and enthusiastic runners of Hingna. The race was organised by Shakuntala Sports Foundation, Wanadongri.

The one-km race started at Pannase Khairi and ended at Sangam. Precautions were taken to ensure the traffic flow was not disturbed and there was no inconvenience to the general public. Senior Joint Secretary of Maharashtra Athletics Association and Secretary of Nagpur District Athletics Association Dr Sharad Suryawanshi wished the participants and organisers all the best online. He also guided the runners on taking precautions during these tough times and also on importance of a balanced diet.

President of district association Gurudeo Nagrale also encouraged the runners. President of Shakuntala Sports Foundation and senior sports teacher Devidas Lambat flagged off the race. Secretary of the foundation Ramchandra Wani, Rahul Kalbande, Shubham Chaudhary, Aakash Mate, Sipin Singh, Shailesh Jhalke, Nitin Bhandari and others worked hard to make the event a success.
