CM virtually inaugurates SEC building

Asserting that State Election Commission plays a significant role in conducting elections of Urban bodies and 3-tier Panchayat Raj Institutions, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that the Commission is executing these responsibilities since 20 years. The CM inaugurated the new building for State Election Commission on Wednesday through video conferencing from his residential office.
 
The new building has been constructed in Sector-19 coming under North Block of Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. The CM congratulations State Election Commissioner Thakur Ram Singh and other officials and employees of SEC. He said this fully facilitated building will give opportunity to officials and employees to work in an organized and systematic manner. Singh said SEC came into existence on September 28, 2002. The Commission had conducted the first general elections for 3-tier Panchayati Raj Institutions and Municipal Corporations in the year 2004-05 and subsequently elections were conducted during 2009-10, 2014-15 and 2019-20. The Commissions conducted elections for panchayat and urban bodies in all districts. Singh informed that the SEC had carried out preparation of photo electoral rolls through online software (SEC-ER) and also nominations of candidates were also received online. It also carried out awareness campaign for encouraging voters to participate in elections. He said the new building houses stores, meeting halls as well as video conferencing hall, etc.
 
Present during the function were Forest Minister Mohammed Akbar, Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey, Home Minister Tamradhawaj Sahu, Panchayat Minister T S Singhdeo, School Education Minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam, Urban Administration Minister Dr Shivkumar Daharia, Food Minister Amarjeet Bhagat, Industries Minister Kawasi Lakhma, Women and Child Welfare Minister Anila Bhedia, PHE Minister Guru Rudra Kumar, Higher Education Minister Umesh Patel, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Nava Raipur Development Authority Chairman R P Mandal and large number of public representatives and officials.
