TUSHAR Khanwe and Abrar Nawaz recorded identical wins in their respective semi-finals to set up title clash in the Amateur 6 Red Snooker Championship in progress at Shabbi’s Q Sports Sadar Gandhi Square. On Wednesday afternoon, both Khanwe and Nawaz beat their opponents 3-1 in the best of five-frame semi-finals. As many as 54 players of the city without any rankings participated in the tournament.

Khanwe begin the match on a losing note conceding the first frame to Jaswinder Singh 14-23. But without wasting any time, he took the next three frames in a row to clinch the match. The scores read 14-23, 33-25, 43-13, 28-27. In the second semis, Nawaz was given a tough fight by Shlok Agrawal in the first frame which the former won 28-26 by just two points.
 
Agrawal came back strongly in the second to level the score 1-1 by taking the second frame 49-16. In a yet another close frame, Nawaz pipped Agrawal 29-22 for a 2-1 lead and later closed the match with a confidence boosting 59-15 win in the fourth frame. The best of seven frames final will be held on Thursday and will start at 4.30 pm. The summit clash will also be broadcast live on the Facebook page of Shabbi’s Q Sports. The winner will be richer by Rs 7000 while the runner-up will take home a purse of Rs 4000. The semi-finalists will get Rs 1500. Rs 2000 cash reward awaits the player who score highest break points (at least 40).
