Governor Anusuiya Uikey and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel paid tributes on the demise of freedom fighter Dr Mahadev Prasad Pandey 
 
Eminent freedom fighter Padma Shri Dr Mahadev Prasad Pandey, who passed away here on Saturday, was cremated with full state honour at Marwadi Shamshan Ghat in Raipur on Sunday. He was 93. Governor Anusuiya Uikey and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel paid tributes on the demise of freedom fighter Dr Mahadev Prasad Pandey.
 
A condolence meeting was organised on Sunday to pay tributes to the freedom fighter. Chief Minister Baghel, Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar, Urban Administration and Development Department Dr Shiv Kumar Dahariya, former Minister Chandrashekhar Sahu, Raipur Mayor Aijaz Dhebar, Speaker of Raipur Municipal Corporation Pramod Dubey and other public representatives attended the condolence meeting. Hundreds of people participated in the funeral of deceased Dr Pandey. The Chief Minister and other public representatives also participated in the last rites of Dr Mahadev Prasad Pandey. Chief Minister Baghel said, “Dr Mahadev Prasad Pandey had played an active role in India’s freedom movement. The demise of Dr Pandey is a big loss to the state. Chhattisgarh lost a brave son.”
 
Baghel also met the bereaved family and consoled the family members. Dr Mahadev Prasad Pandey was under treatment for the last three months at a private hospital in State capital. He received Padma Shri award for his contribution to literature and education in 2007. He was an Ayurvedic doctor and had served as the Principal of Ayurvedic College Raipur.
