Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel dedicated the office buildings of Collector and Superintendent of Police apart from dedicating a 500-bed hostel at Tikar in Gaurela 
 
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi as 28th district of Chhattisgarh in a ceremonial event held at Gurukul Sports Complex, Pendra Road, on Monday. The long pending demand of the public was fulfilled with the inauguration of the new district, exactly after five months and 25 days from the date of announcement. It is worthwhile to mention, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had made the announcement for the formation of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district during his Independence Day speech at Police Parade Ground in Raipur on August 15, 2019. The Chief Minister also dedicated the offices of District Collector and Superintendent of Police apart from dedicating a 500-bed hostel of Tribal Development Department at Tikar in Gaurela.
 
The hostel building was constructed at the cost of Rs 14.97 crore. The Chief Minister also performed bhumi pujan for the construction of two bridges costing Rs 3.48 crore on Gaurela-Kenvchi Road. The bridge presently being used on this road is submerged during rainy season causing hardship for the people of the area. These new bridges would solve the problem.
 
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister was accorded a warm welcome by the people after his arrival at Gurukul Campus on Pendra Road. Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district area has been defined as complete tehsil of Pendra Road, Marwahi and Pendra. Its border in north will have Tehsil Manendragarh (District Koriya) while on the south it will have tehsil Kota (District Bilaspur and tehsil Lormi, district Mungeli. Similarly, Tehsil Katghora, District Korba will be in its east and in the west will be Sohagpur and Pushrajgarh of district Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh. The new district was carved out of the Bilaspur with rich forested terrain. The district would have 166 gram panchayats, 222 villages and two nagar panchayats in the form of Gaurela and Pendra. The total areas of the district would be 1,68,228 hectare. Irrigated land of the district would be 6290 hectare while non-irrigated land would be 64352 hectare. 200 villages of Marwahi Assembly Constituency, 25 villages of Kota Assembly segment, 200 villages of Korba Lok Sabha and 25 villages of Bilaspur Lok Sabha seat are included in the new district. Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr Charandas Mahant, Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, Revenue Minister Jaisingh Agrawal, Leader of Opposition in Chhattisgarh Assembly Dharamlal Kaushik, former chief minister Ajit Jogi and MLA Renu Jogi were present on the occasion.
 
 
Tiwari is Collector, Parihar first SP of new district The state government on Monday issued an order appointing 2008 batch Indian Administrative Officer Shikha Rajput Tiwari as the first Collector and 2015-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Suraj Singh Parihar as the first Superintendent of Police of newly created district of Gorela-Pendra-Marwahi. Shikha Rajput was discharging her responsibilities in Gorela-Pendra-Marwahi as the Officer on Specuial Duty and Parihar was working in the capacity of OSD (Police). The officer was recently shifted to Gorela-Pendra-Marwahi from insurgency-hit Dantewada district with the responsibility of ensuring police related arrangements for the new district. Singh has served successfully as an Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) for around one year in Dantewada and as Civil Lines City Superintendent of Police (CSP) in Raipur for a period of over one year. On the occasion, Bilaspur Range Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dipanshu Kaabra, Collector Bilaspur Sanjay Alung, Bilaspur SP Prashant Agrawal and Bilaspur Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ritesh Agrawal and others were also present.
