Fossils, claimed to be eggs and bone of dinosaur, were found during an excavation in Mohantola area in Mandla 
 
GEOLOGICAL Survey of India (GSI) has been contacted for scientific investigation of fossils, claimed to be the eggs and bone of dinosaur, found during an excavation in Mohantola area in Mandla district. The district administration has started preparations to protect the site where spheres and bone fossils were found. Mandla Collector Jagdish Chandra Jatia, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’, informed that senior officers of Geological Survey of India (GIS) have been contacted and informed about possibilities of finding dinosaur nesting and other evidences in the district.
 
GSI officers have been invited for scientific investigation of the spot to ascertain authenticity of claims. Total seven spheres and a bone fossil have been found and kept at a protected place for technical investigation. Collector Jatia added that chemical analysis of the claimed fossils was carried out but scientific investigation is required for technical verification.
 
Officers concerned have been directed for protection of the site by stopping any kind of excavation and prohibiting entry of unauthorised people. A Government school teacher posted in Mandla has claimed to have found fossils of dinosaur’s eggs and bone during an excavation in Mohantola village, 3 kilometres from Mandla district headquarters. Some of the senior geologists are also optimistic about finding fossils of dinosaur’s eggs and bone that belongs to 66 million years late Cretaceous era and expressed need of protecting the site and findings till survey of the spot and technical verification for further research works is done.
