Madhya Pradesh has become one of the states in country which is pioneering in using renewable energy in big way to meet the power demand. Now it is going to move one step ahead by working on the concept of energy storage. The work on this policy has reached into final phase which aims to store energy coming from renewable sources. Under this project of energy storage, solar or wind energy can be stored and used for various purposes during odd hours. Moreover, Government is mulling to give incentives under the project which is flexing its muscles to see light of the day.

“A policy with regard to energy storage is under process in which we are also planning to provide incentives,’ said Principal Secretary, New and Renewable Energy Department, Manu Shrivastava talking to ‘The Hitavada’. He opined that energy can be stored in the form of chemical energy and vice versa which could be used later. For instance, solar energy is produced during day time and it can be stored for use in night hours.

When contacted, MD of Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Rajiv Ranjan Meena told ‘The Hitavada’ “We are going to come up with a energy storage concept and it is almost in its final stage.” Throwing light on the unique concept, he added that China and Australia are pioneering countries as far as energy storage concept is concerned. Madhya Pradesh is most probably the first state which is going to foray in this field. He said that renewable energy coming from sun, wind etc can be stored either in the form of chemical batteries or other means and it can be used at the time of need or say during odd hours.
