The new education policy aims at inculcating social, cultural and patriotic values among the students. In an effort to promote and support inter-disciplinary education and research, the boundaries in strict frame of curriculum are being broken. The students of any faculty will be able to study subjects outside it with ease. This was stated by Prof M K Shridhar, member of National Education Policy Draft Committee.

In his inaugural address Dr Mishra said that the right to education is not sufficient. Right to quality education should be ensured. Specific mention to this effect in the education policy is essential. The education was caste-based earlier, which now is economy based. The quality of education, therefore is more important.

Dr Mishra also pointed out precarious condition of basic education as even basic facilities are not available. growing political interference in this field is also a cause of concern. Building character should be the prime motto of education at any level.

In his presidential address Dr Varakhedi said the educational institutions will be able top impart quality education only after their dependence on government is reduced. It is necessary to change the approach towards education with the changing situation across the world. Earlier in Gurukul the students were given education in different subjects. The concept of liberal arts was freely accepted in old system and now has been incorporated in the new education policy. This opportunity can be made only through positive approach and determination.
