Externed criminal nabbed for jewellery shop burglary

POLICE succeeded in solving the sensational burglary at Parakh Jewellers within 36 hours and arrested the accused Lokesh Shrivas, who is an externed criminal from Kabirdham from ‘Rain Basera’ in New Bus Stand, Durg during wee hours on Friday and police recovered gold jewelleries worth 2.59 crore along with cash of over Rs 1.47 lakh, informed Vivekanand Sinha, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Durg Police Range while addressing a press conference at Police Control Room, Bhilai.

IGP Sinha said that with professional expertise and striking exceptionally good coordination among teams, police succeeded in zeroing in on the accused and with cent per cent recovery of stolen jewelleries and cash, stolen from Parakh Jewellers of Akashganga, Bhilai.
 
The accused arrested by police was identified as Lokesh Shrivas alias Golu (29), a resident of Kailash Nagar,
Kabirdham. The police would produce the accused in the court on Saturday and in the meantime the police would recover corroborative physical evidences.
 
While citing confession of the accused Lokesh Shrivas, the IGP Sinha said that since he was a seasoned criminal, he used to conduct recce while visiting places for other purposes. In one such outing he reached Akashganga market Bhilai for buying clothes. He happened to take notice of the under construction building by Parakh Jewellers and hatched the conspiracy of burglary at the jewellery shop. He got into under construction building stealthily and with the help of the bamboo ladder got on the roof of the jewellery shop. Afterwards he dug a big hole at the duct wall of the lift at the jewellery shop and while climbing down he rested at the lift’s roof. He finally got into the second floor after cutting grill-door of the lift. Afterwards he broke open the door of iron bars of strong room and grabbed the jewelleries from the chest as chest locker was malfunctioning. The accused Lokesh Shrivas got into under construction building during night of February 10 and committed burglary in daytime on the next day for meeting out possible noise resonance of digging hole at the wall. He left the shop stealthily at about 11:45 pm on February 11 and he did not have snacks or any food for about 23 hours. He did not carry snacks packets or anything while fearing to leave evidences and his subsequent tracking in the process.
 
IGP also informed that as per confession of the accused Lokesh Shrivas, he owns a parlour in Kabirdham and with the motive of amassing huge money to open a well-equipped parlour he was committing burglaries and thefts. He was an exiled criminal ‘Tadipar’ as he was involved in as many as 13 burglaries, occurred in Kabirdham. He was also involved in the burglary involving over Rs 9 lakh, reportedly occurred at AVN Bajaj Show Room in Supela, Bhilai. He was not intending to sell the ornaments, weighing about five and a half kgs that he had stolen from the shop, in urban area as he had planned to liquidate the whole stock in long time in the rural area to amass money for his dream project of a beauty parlour.
 
IGP Sinha also informed that about six police teams under close supervision of SSP, Ajay Kumar Yadav, conducted investigation without any major break and finally unearthed the burglary. The police analyzed about 12,000 mobile phone numbers, active in the area and questioned over 125 concerned persons to zero in on the accused. While praising the police teams and specifically SSP, Yadav, IGP, Sinha also announced cash award for the police teams for performing duty with due dedication.
