Miscreants go on rampage, damage 25 vehicles in Dhammadeep Nagar

On rampage, miscreants let loose a wave of terror in Yashodhara Nagar police station area during wee hours of Friday. Brandishing swords and sticks, the gang of six youth went on damaging two wheelers and four wheelers parked by road side. Nearly 25 to 30 vehicles suffered damage during the spree by the thugs.

The incident occurred in Dhammadeep Nagar and Vandevi Nagar in North Nagpur area and primary reports said it was fallout of rivalry between two groups. The entire rampage was recorded in CCTV, the third eye of city police, but delayed response of police could not prevent the damage. However acting swiftly cops caught up the culprits.
 
The accused youth were angry over an incident of murderous attack on Zuber Abdul Karim Qureshi at Golibar Square. Qureshi was resident of Vandevi Nagar. On getting information, Qureshi's friend armed to teeth raided Dhammadeep Nagar and smashed headlights of two wheelers, window screens of four wheelers. As they were brandishing swords nobody dared to step out and confront the gang of six. The youth were also hurling expletives as they vent their anger on vehicles.
Among the damaged vehicles include a car, a bike, auto and 18 two wheeler. The attack on Qureshi was fallout of a dispute over a gambling den that is operated by side of railway line in Kalamna area. Gulshan Bokde and his friends had tried to kill Qureshi but the latter managed to save himself by running away from the spot. He then dialled for help and damaged vehicles in Dhammadeep Nagar in a bid to assert his hold in the area. In the morning police teams fanned out and nabbed five of the six accused. The instruments used in damaging the vehicles was also recovered.
Police said as per FIR, 13 vehicles were damaged by the gang and losses is pegged at Rs. 1.90 lakh. The six also robbed a youth who was roaming in night and snatched Rs 270 from him.
 
An offence under Secs 395, 143, 144, 147, 148, 149, 427 and 504 of IPC R/w Sec 4, 25 of Indian Arms Act and Sec 135 of Bombay Police Act was registered. Further probe is on.
